I Hope was Dan's first album project, produced by Joe Pisapia (Guster/Joe, Marc's Brother) in Nashville in the winter of 2002 and 2003. Dan's goal was to make a personal statement, choosing songs "from the heart." The result is a very personal and intimate musical statement about one man's life journey.
From this CD, one song, "I Am The River," was selected for a Tennessee radio campaign highlighting the damage done to our rivers from pollution. Another song, "When Will I" was subsequently recorded by Candi Staton, released on her His Hands album and featured in Tyler Perry's film, The Family That Preys. Dan also included his version of the LeAnn Rimes hit "The Light In Your Eyes."
The band included Joe Pisapia on all guitars, David Gehrke on drums, Marc Pisapia on percussion, Al Perkins on dobro and steel guitar, and Chris Carmichael providing strings and string arrangements.
The record was mixed by Jim Demain and packaging design by Bill Tyler.
