In Honor of Joe South

Home / News

The great Joe South left the planet on September 5, 2012. Joe was a popular music genius of the first order: he wrote, produced and performed some of the finest recordings of the 60’s and 70’s. In doing so, he inspired me and millions of others. It was my great privilege and joy to record Joe, in the early 80’s in Nashville, performing a song I wrote titled “Shining.”. He even played his famous sitar/guitar on the track. He was an amazing person, on many levels.

We will miss you, Joe. Thanks for the soulful, tuneful, meaningful and powerful music you gave us.

Here’s the song.
