In Honor of Levi Sims

Home / News

I lost a friend and the world lost a great talent on March 12, 2012 when Levi Sims passed away after a life-long struggle with cystic fibrosis. Levi was a musical prodigy and by the time he was ten years old, he was opening for Mel Tillis in Branson, playing up to 300 shows a year. As a teenager, Levi moved to Nashville to pursue his dream. Wilbur Rimes introduced me to Levi and thus began a fifteen year relationship. We shared a love for traditional country music and for great songs. I was fortunate that Levi recorded several of my songs, and though none were radio hits, I treasure each and every one. Levi was a great talent, but he was also a great person. Honest, loyal, hard working, humble and a person of faith. He knew he didn’t have long in this world and he did not waste his time on trivialities. Below is a link to one of my songs Levi recorded. I co-wrote “Please” with the late Carson Whitsett and the track was produced by Wilbur Rimes.
